Swan Film School
Swan Film School gives you the skills to explore the world of filmmaking. You will be using a comprehensive range of video cameras, film lights, microphones, teleprompters and editing mixers in our green screen studio where we make dreams reality.
Learn script-writing, acting on film set, directing and much more to create your own short film by the end of the term which will be shown at the red carpet premier.
Each term runs once a week for 12/13 weeks. Each week is a mix of hand-on workshops, studio and outside filming, film screenings, discussions, group and solo projects. There will be 3 terms each year so that each student will continue to learn and be involved.
Week 1: Introduction to Filmmaking
Overview of the course structure and expectations. Introduction to the history of filmmaking.Hands on different equipment, selection of cameras, lights, mics and recorders. Basics of storytelling: plot, character, theme.Basics of short documentary making.Screening of a short drama and documentary films discussing how they were produce
Week 2: Pre-production Process
Understanding screenplay writing and storyboarding. Exploring the role of directors, producers, and cinematographers. Group exercise: brainstorming and developing film ideas. Overview of equipment: cameras, lighting, sound. Setting up and hands-on.
Week 3: The Art of Cinematography
Basic fundamentals of composition, framing, and camera different angles.Lighting techniques and their impact on mood and tone, natural and powered lighting practical in studio.Practical workshop: basic camera operation covering composition, framing and lighting set-ups. Teams of 4 Rotating.
Week 4: Sound Design and Editing
Importance of sound in filmmaking: dialogue, music, and effects. Practical workshop: teams of camera operator, sound-person, lighting and director. Create and film 90 second film.
Week 5: Acting and Directing
Review films created previous week. Understanding the actor-director relationship. Techniques for directing actors and capturing authentic performances. Group activity: directing actors in a short scene. Techniques for presenting and using mics.
Week 6: Production Planning and Logistics
Create an idea for a short documentary
Location scouting and taking photos
Plan out schedule.
Decide what equipment is required. List out.
Week 7: Filming Techniques
Advanced camera techniques: multi cameras, gimbals, drone shots.
Script writing know-how.
Practical workshop: outdoor filming of the documentary planned in previous
week.
Week 8: Production Planning and Logistics
Create the idea for a 3 to 5 minute drama film
Write the script for above
Week 9: Filming Techniques
Advanced camera techniques: multi cameras, steadicam, drone shots.
Practical workshop: outdoor filming exercises. Around the town preparing for
the drama film.
Week 10: Production Planning Drama film
Scheduling for film shoot 5 minute drama.
Rehearse drama in the studio
Week 11: Filming Drama production
Film drama as a group, each team filming their own production
Week 12: Prepare Film Showcase.
Creating promotional materials: trailers, posters, press kits.
Guest speaker: filmmaker or industry professional.
Week 13: Film Showcase and Reflection
Red Carpet Screening of student films for classmates, friends, and family.
Q&A session with filmmakers.
Reflections on the journey and future aspirations.

Conclusion: Swan TV provides teenagers with a comprehensive introduction to the
art and craft of filmmaking, fostering creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
Through hands-on experience and mentorship, students will gain the confidence and
expertise to pursue their passion for filmmaking and storytelling.
